Island ETC (East-End Theatre Company) is pleased to announce open auditions for all roles in The Odd Couple by Neil Simon. Auditions will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024, at ETC, 2317 Mechanic, Galveston at 7:00pm. Rehearsals will begin on September 3rd Rehearsals are Sunday through Thursday. Performances are September 20 - October 12. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30pm
The Odd Couple opens as a group of the guys assembles for cards in the apartment of Oscar Madison. If the mess is any indication, it comes as no surprise that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger, who has just separated from his wife. Depressed with an off-the-roof anxiety Feliz seems suicidal. But as the action unfolds, Oscar is the one with murder on his mind when the clean freak and the slob ultimately decide to be roommates with hysterical results.
The Roles:
Oscar Madison – Bachelor, sportswriter, messy, carefree and good natured
Felix Unger – Recently single, fussy and a compulsive cleaner
Speed – One of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies; he is gruff and sarcastic
Murray – On of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies, a NYPD officer.
Roy – One of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies, Oscar’s accountant, has a dry wit
Vinnie – One of Oscar and Felix’s buddies, he is mild-mannered and henpecked
Gwendolyn Pigeon – she is the giggly upstairs neighbor, one of a pair of English sisters, widow
Cecily Pigeon – she is Gwendolyn’s sister, also very giggly, divorcée
