Island ETC is pleased to the beginning of auditions for the first production of our 23rd Season, MY FAIR LADY. Performance dates are July 18 through August 16. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and two Sunday matinees on July 27 and August 3. Rehearsals will begin on June 8 (possibly a week later June 15). Rehearsals are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 7pm to 10 pm.
The first stage of our auditions is video of you singing something from a classical musical, preferably with accompaniment. If you wish to be considered for the role of Eliza Doolittle, please include 16 bars of a song from the show. Video audition submissions need to be sent to islandetc1@gmail.com by Sunday May 4th.

MY FAIR LADY is the timeless story of a cockney flower girl, Eliza Doolittle. Pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins is so sure of his abilities that he accepts a bet to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject is the lovely Eliza Doolittle, who agrees to speech lessons to improve her job prospects.
Characters – no one has been precast, all roles are open
All roles may be any race or ethnicity.
ELIZA DOOLITTLE – 20-35, Female (Cockney accent as well as standard British) A flower girl who works outside Convent Garden. She is very strong willed. Soprano
HENRY HIGGINS – 30-60, Male A well-known professor of linguistics and a confirmed bachelor. Plain speaking to the point of rudeness. Baritone
ALFRED P. DOOLITTLE – 50+, Male He is Eliza’s father, a brash Cockney dustman. Irresponsible self-absorbed, a heavy drinker who never passes up a free drink. Must move well. Baritone
COLONEL PICKERING 50-70, Male Friend of Henry Higgins, a gentleman in every way. Perfect manners and true courtesy, a kind and generous heart.C3-D4
FREDDY EYNSFORD-HILL 20-30, Male Handsome young aristocrat who falls in love with Eliza. C3-F4
MRS. PEARCE 40-60, Female Higgins’s housekeeper. E4-G4
MRS. EYNSFORD-HILL 40-70, Female Freddy’s mother and a friend of Mrs. Higgins.
MRS. HIGGINS 60-80, Female Henry’s mother.
HARRY 30-70, Male A friend of Alfred P. Doolittle. Must move well.
JAMIE 30-70, Male A friend of Alfred P. Doolittle. Must move well.
PROFFESSOR ZOLTAN KARPATHY 30-60, Male A Hungarian phoneticist and a former student (Hungarian)
ENSEMBLE – all ages, all genders, race & ethnicities.
There are many roles within the ensemble. As with most ETC productions, members of the ensemble will portray several roles. (In some amazing costumes.
All actors will be paid a production stipend at the end of the run.

The show will be directed by Kim Mytelka. Music Direction by Henry Aronson and Nathaniel Brown, choreography by Jennifer Daugherty.
