Island ETC Newest Comedy-

THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS is a righteously funny comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten.  THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS will open on Friday, May 10 with performances continuing through May 25.  Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays at 8:00pm.  There will be two Sunday afternoon performances (May 12 and May 19) at 2:30 pm.

Hilarity abounds when some feisty friends of Eden Falls, Georgia, decide to shake up their lives.  After the death of a close friend, Sugar Lee Thompkins (Candy Howard) decides she is doesn’t want to live with ‘What ifs”.  She calls her friends together to take charge and live their dreams.  And life is precious and short, so they need to take action immediately. Sugar Lee is the high-spirited and determined leader who finds that keeping her friends motivated is more complicated than she expected.  Carlene Travis (Catrin Griffiths) has given up on romance, having buried three husbands.  Nita Mooney (Genny McClellan) is a nervous wreck because her 27-year-old son refuses to leave her house.  Mavis Flowers’ (Robin Schaefer) marriage is so stagnant she contemplates faking her own death to get out of it.  Sweet, simple Crystal Hart (Terri Burchfield) entertains everyone singling Christmas carols with her own funny lyrics.  As the friends put their plan into motion, the comic tension mounts when a sexy ex-boyfriend Bobby Dwayne Dillahunt (TJ Webb)  who ruined Sugar Lee’s life on high school graduation shows up unexpectedly spurred on by Sugar Lee’s archrival, Bunny Sutherland (Ruth Finkelstein Suhlar).  Bunny vows she’ll stop at nothing to bring the girls down.  And then Porter Padgett (Roger Stallings) who is the Mama’s boy of Eden Falls adds one more complication.  By the time the women rally together to overcome these obstacles and launch their new improved lives, you have a side-splitting, joyful comedy that will  have you laughing out loud.

THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS is directed by Kim Mytelka. “It’s a joy to work with this incredible cast.”  Scenic design is by Thomas D. Boone and light design is by Dalton Hildebrand. The first matinee is Mother’s Day.  Treat your mom to an afternoon of laughter.
